Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy, who returned to the field this season, looked back on his short retirement life.

Bochy looked back on his short retirement from 2020 to 2022 in an interview ahead of Game 1 of the World Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on the 28th.

Asked if he watched the World Series during his retirement, he replied, "I watched it on TV at home."

"At that time, players gathered in bubbles and played with masks because of the coronavirus. I used to say, "I retired at a really great timing," looking back on that time.

He also confessed his experience of teaching T-ball to children after retirement. "It was easier to manage a major league team," he said, adding that it was not an easy experience.

"I hate to say the name of the team, but maybe it was the Astros if the memory is right. It was a team run by my son. It was fun, but it wasn't easy to concentrate. There were some who didn't want to defend and just wanted to hit, some who said they would go to the bathroom during the game, and some who ran away to the forest." 토토사이트

In the end, he chose to return to the field. Shortly after he signed a managerial contract with the Rangers, the 2022 World Series took place.

Watching last year's World Series, he said, "I thought I was going back to the postseason and the World Series."

He also introduced a seven-hour conversation with Rangers general manager Chris Young, who came to his home in person.

"We all had the same aspirations, the same vision. I wanted to turn back baseball to win over the Rangers again. Ray Davis felt the same way. I replied, 'I want one more chance.'

"My wife saw me like this at first and scolded me, saying, 'What are you dissatisfied with your life now, fishing and playing golf?' but now I'm really enjoying this moment."

And he is currently on the World Series stage. "I'm very lucky," he said. I'm with these good players, coaches, front desk, and a group of owners," he said, giving everyone credit.

Rangers general manager Chris Young said, "It was at a press conference a year ago when Bochy took office. I don't know who asked the question, but someone asked, "Do you really think it will be a competitive team next year?" Then, I remember Bochy hitting the table and yelling, "Don't tell me we won't compete or win." At that time, I saw the expressions of the players standing next to me and I saw the players nodding their heads. At that moment, I felt that he was a difference-maker," Bochy said of his presence.
